Shirley Flinn The knowledge of values, lights and darks, allows me as the artist to magically create the features of the human form. Beyond the technical, I see it as an opportunity to capture a moment in the subjects' life, a glimpse of who they are that goes beyond the brush strokes. 1 have been painting for eight years. Over the last year I have been schooled in the ways of the great masters under the tutelage of well-known artist and teacher. Gene Prokop, at Pro's Art School in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. My style is realistic, to highlight the essence of the individual, I use loose abstract brushstrokes in the background.
