Susan BelcherI studied at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s while supporting my children and myself as a Registered Nurse. This gave me a unique opportunity to not only study the human figure in depth but look below the skin at the human condition with empathy. I strive to bring clarity and honesty to my work. Presently I am a professional artist, painting and teaching from my studio in Wasaga Beach and the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts in Collingwood. I feel portraiture is a wonderful venue for exploring and sharing our strengths, frailties, and vulnerabilities. A portrait should not only capture the physical likeness of the subject but also the uniqness of the person within.
