Portrait Society of Canada announce the launch of Canada most comprehensive Agency and Internet Site for Portrait Artists

The Agency will present all types of portraiture, including the following subjects and mediums:

• people
• sculptures
• animals
• houses, buildings, boats and interiors

Aims of the Site

• To act as a national database for both a national and international audience, listing good quality portrait artists, living and working across Canada, showing examples of their work.
• To ensure and maintain a highly professional image for the portrait genre on the World Wide Web.
• To be easy to navigate and search.
• To be informative and concise.
• To provide professional back up by staff skilled in client care and familiar with the artists work.
• To provide a competitively priced commission structured for artists.

Projects

• The agency is planning a network of regional agents in major cities at Canada, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, those task it will be secure commission for the agency’s artists. Regional agents will also provide marketing and services for artist in their region.
• The agency aims to secure commissions for its artists by institution and major commercial enterprises in all Provinces of Canada. It is currently talking to the Portrait Gallery of Canada, Canadian Heritage, ACC, OAC, TCA, Media and Sport Municipal, Provincial, Federal Governments and other public institution on various initiatives.
• The Agency will provide a service for individual artists who wish to publicize recent portraits especially those of newsworthy sitters. Special fee will be applied for this service.

Artist’s Statement and Portfolio

• A series of approximately 12 photographs of existing portraits.
  These will provide sufficient visual information for clients to make an initial selection of one or more artists.



• A Photo of the Artist.



• An extensive biographical profile.
  This information will provide information on the artists’ art education, achievements, awards, exhibitions etc.



• List of Notable Commissions.
  This will enable artists to list works they have already painted of interesting and notable sitters.



• Media quotations and personal testimonials.
  This area will quote any significant comments concerning the artist published or broadcast in the media and will include any special tributes from clients.



• The Artists Philosophy.
  This will give artists the opportunity to say what they aim to achieve with their portraiture and will allow the client to know more about artist.



• Artist’ procedure.
  This area will enable artists to explain how they work, giving details such as likely number of sittings and length at sitting, if the artist need photo or etc. Client will be able to estimate how long the process will take.



• The Artist’s prices.
  This area will enable artists to publish a set of accurate prices for the types of portraits they undertake. Prices should include agency commission and be in Cn. dollars. The prices should be within the following ranges:

  
  watercolor;
  pastel;
  charcoal;
  oil;
  head and shoulder;
  half-length;
  three quarter length;
  full length;
  double portrait;
  group portrait;

  This area will enable to contact us by email about selected artists.

Fees and Commission

Portrait Agency Registration Fee: $150 CAD

Internet Site fees:

The total fee for your first year on site will be $120 CAD.
This will include the setting up and administration of your biographical and portfolio field and will entitle you to:

Include 12 images and a photo of the artist;
Use the site for the year;
Your site page’s ancillary and marketing service;

*Extra images will be charged at $20 CAD for block of 4 images.
The fees will increase to $150 CAD for second and continuing years, which will allow you to provide additional updated information and replace another 12 images every year.

Commission structure:

We will change commission at rate 25 = GST, with minimum charge at $100 CAD on work commissioned by a client who was originally introduced by the agency.
