Members and guests of the Portrait Society enjoyed another specialty workshop with master draftsman Frank Tonido over November 7-8, 2005. Colour pencil drawing technique was the theme as an intimate group of students gathered for the workshop at Toronto’s Arts and Letters Club.
Part of the continued success of the Portrait Society’s workshops is due to their specialty focus. Participants in the workshop emphasized the unique nature of Frank’s class, as there are few courses available anywhere in North America that specialize in colour pencil drawing techniques. Students learned how to systematically build up a colour pencil portrait, how to control the depth of colour and how to treat light and shadow. Participants were delighted by the sharing and learning experience.
