Portraiture is at the heart of my practice. From childhood, I have been captivated by faces and the subtle shifts of expression that reveal inner worlds. What began as a fascination with drawing likenesses evolved into a lifelong commitment to portraying the human spirit with honesty and emotional depth. I am drawn to the nuances that make each person singular; strength and vulnerability, resilience and tenderness, the quiet stories carried in a gaze or gesture. Through portraits and figurative work, I seek to honour these qualities and reflect the shared humanity that connects us.
This sensitivity to narrative and presence informs my still life paintings as well. I often incorporate figurines among everyday objects, suggesting symbolic meaning and evoking intimate, relatable stories. These arrangements become moments suspended in time, speaking to memory, connection, and life’s fleeting nature.
